PARTE PRIMA: ROMA (ANTEFATTO)
PARTE TERZA: STATI UNITI
C’era molto in quel bacio.
Poi telefonò personalmente a Stephen Ford.
“No, signor direttore.”
“Bene.
Ci andrebbe a nozze.
“I requisiti?”, domandò.
Yarbes fu conciso. “Estrema precisione. Cento metri, come minimo, di portata di tiro. Mirino laser.
“Bersaglio fisso o in movimento?”

PART ONE: ROME (BACKGROUND)
John Lodge is a CIA agent who is in Rome with the task of protecting and interrogate Boris Ivanovic, a senior official of the Soviet KGB, who decided to change fields. Lodge has never failed a mission, but in this case has to face the best KGB agent, Alexander, code-named Matryoshka: a cold and ruthless man, specializing in assassinations. Thanks to a clever plan and bold, and using Italian accomplices, Alexander has the upper hand. Despite the presence of the Italian police and a second CIA agent, stuns and kills Boris Lodge.
PART TWO: AFGHANISTAN
Ten years later, fate has it that the paths of the two will cross again. The CIA has received a “tip” from Moscow in view of the great summer offensive, the Russians intend to eliminate Massoud, the most skilful among the commanders of the Mujahideen, who are at war against the Soviet Union.
To this end, Alexander crosses the Khyber Pass, accompanied by silent Farrin, a Tajik “conditioned” by the KGB: he is actually a robot, devoid of all sense of pain or fear, an instrument of death that responds only to Matrioska. To force a stubborn guerrilla to reveal where the shelter of his head, Aleksandr capture and skinning a boar and a threat to the Afghan wrap the skin of the animal: in spite of his courage, the terrified man relents.
The two reach Massoud, but failed to kill him.
Lodge is accompanied by Monica Squire, a woman determined and charming. Among them was born a deep attraction, although Monica is strongly opposed to the support that America is giving the guerrillas, since the Soviets invaded Afghanistan back to a specific request of the legitimate government in Kabul that would modernize the country, raising the status of women and creating a vast program of social reform and democratic elections; Lodge does not endorse the views of my colleague, believing that his job is only to save the life of Massoud, without unnecessary speculation. This, however, does not prevent the attraction leading to a bursting passion. Lodge, however, loves his wife, Sherilyn, and although crave Monica, resist the temptation after arriving on the verge of treason. A curb it is also the thought of his daughter, Susan.
Monica Squire lived experience dramatic is beaten by a group of Afghans because she went to swim in a small lake in panties and bra. To save it, paradoxically, is the arrival of the terrible Hind, armored helicopters of the Red Army.
In this regard, John and Monica instruct on the use of two guerrillas Stinger, the only weapon capable of breaking down the deadly Hind. The same Monica can kill one, saving the lives of Lodge.
A parenthesis is dedicated to Alexander’s sister, Sonja, unjustly imprisoned and later sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a fellow prisoner who tried to rape her. Thanks to the prestige of his brother, Sonja gets the grace of Vladimir Putin, at the time the highest ranks of the KGB, who dotes on Matrioska. Friends with Tamara, the mistress of Alexander, the begins to tell when he changed, turning from a boy into a sensitive and affectionate man cold and heartless.
Meanwhile, after various ups and downs and reversals in the face, Aleksandr kidnaps Monica to induce Lodge to tell him where he is now Massoud. The two men face each other on a mountain overlooking the Panjshir Valley and firing at the same time.
Matrioska, apparently shot to death, falling into a ravine.
PART THREE: THE UNITED STATES
Vladimir Putin sees John Lodge extremely dangerous to delete it (and to get back at what has happened in Afghanistan), the United States sends two agents, the attractive Aglaja and, under the guise of the Norwegian Larsen, Matryoshka, miraculously escaped death thanks to the help of two Russian soldiers.
Aglaja task is to find out where he lives and then go back to Monica Squire Lodge. Thanks to the information of a mole, the sexually submissive woman makes an official OS, the watchdog of the CIA, which provides the address of Monica.
After killing him Aglaja goes to Monica, thanks to greater athleticism her prisoner and torture until the U.S. does not give up, svelandole the location of the home of John.
Matryoshka comes in Virginia from Mexico. But at the border, because of an old photo, it is recognized by Steve Miller, an FBI agent, an old friend of the father of Monica. After notifying only a colleague, alcoholic Paul Bradley, Alexander Miller before that, however, kills him choking with snow.
Matryoshka assassinates John Lodge, using a weapon that is actually a result of American technology (IM, Improvised Munitions), capable of transforming sand or snow in deadly projectiles. The weapon was hidden in the trunk of his car, hidden in equipment for fishing.
While Alexander, Aglaja and Monica move to a cottage on the shore of a lake – is the basis of American Aglaja -, waiting to cross the Canadian border and to suppress Monica, Paul Bradley, the federal agent alcoholic, discovered the body of Steve Miller, instead of promptly notify the FBI, the CIA called instead. As a reward after a brief interrogation, is brutally murdered by Yarbes and Thompson, the two agents sent from Langley. Yarbes home runs Lodge, welcomes the absence of his wife and daughter, drag the corpse inside the house – Lodge had been killed in the doorway – and pollutes all the evidence, so that you think about a murder in the course of a robbery, always by order of the head of Langley.
In a tripartite meeting between the U.S. president and the directors of the FBI and CIA, the latter strongly denies the involvement of the Agency.
Later you will find the reason for this behavior, and other “strange” decisions taken by him.
Meanwhile, in the cottage, the passion explodes between Alexander and Monica. (While in Afghanistan, the Russian seemed attracted to her).
If they had said that one day Matrioska would kiss her, asking how he would feel then, Monica would have answered without hesitation.
Disgust. Anger. Desire to gouge out his eyes. Odio. Hatred. Repulsion.
So great was his surprise when, almost unbeknownst to him, returned the kiss with transport.
There was a lot in that kiss.
Despair over the death of Lodge, the fear of being killed, the memory of torture. It was as if she were offered a last chance, one last glimpse of life. The mind was cold but my body betrayed her. With bewilderment he realized to be wet. With growing disbelief discovered that a part of her wanted to be held. Matryoshka was a man cold, dark, completely devoid of compassion, humanity had killed in cold blood and John, though hesitating at the end would leave Aglaja free to delete it, even after endless torments.
Matryoshka was “the” enemy.
It was also nice, though, and kissed her gently. Monica felt as split into two: a rational level, excluded in any way to go beyond that kiss absurd, but as he thought about it, did not resist when he undressed, not twisted, not fight. This is a rape, he repeated: I can not oppose because he is much stronger than me. In fact, I’m forcing.
But it was not true.
And she knew it.
When he was penetrating and began to scream, he was aware that his cries did not express denial or despair, but passion.
Was overwhelmed by orgasm.
It was only the first of the night.
This unleashes the wrath of jealous Aglaja, fortunately without serious consequences for Monica, apart from a violent punch to the solar plexus.
Nevertheless, both the Soviet and the U.S., are fully aware that the fate of Monica, however, will not change: Matryoshka has always been used to carry out orders, and – in addition to Lodge – Putin asked him to kill Squire.
Yarbes, probably the new number one in the CIA, find the mole, a man named Dan Capshaw, and horribly torturing him, forcing him to reveal what happened, as well as the real name of Aglaja (in America was passed for Janice) and the presence of Matrioska. Found out where the cottage, Yarbes Thompson and take it by storm, but with disappointing results: Aleksandr kills Thompson and manages to escape, on the other hand shoots Aglaja Monica.
Hunted and without valid documents, Matrioska first slaying a gang of thugs who wanted to rob him, then kills a representative of religious objects to steal his car.
From France comes to the rescue of a KGB investigator, Julien Delpech, sent by Elke Shurer, a German who works for the Stasi, the East German secret service, the most faithful ally of Soviet intelligence. He brings with him a passport “almost perfect.” For Matrioska therefore not good. Although older, Delpech is tall and broad-shouldered: Aleksandr take its place and the French will disappear, only to “reappear” on the flight that will take Aleksandr in Paris (and later at Cannes).
Meanwhile, Monica risk being sentenced to death for high treason (not being able to withstand the torture of Aglaja). Lodge, in fact, is dead because of him.
But CIA Director sands the case and during an interview with the chairman of the disciplinary committee, finally explains the reasons for his behavior.
When the director of the CIA came into his office, the matter of Monica Squire was on the desk.
He read it carefully, then sighed and scribbled something on the first sheet. Poi telefonò personalmente a Stephen Ford. Then he personally phoned Stephen Ford. Half an hour later, the former president of the disciplinary committee came to report.
The director showed him what he had written.
Ford did not hide his astonishment.
Do not proceed NP, followed by the signature of the head.
“Why?”, Ford asked, surprised and bewildered.
“For many years we know, Stephen?”
Ford smiled a little ‘sadly. “For many, perhaps too many, sir.”
The other nodded. “And in all these years I have always been able to see – and enjoy – your privacy. I do not want to disappoint some now? ”
“No, sir.”
“Good. Precisely because of its past and its merits, I have an explanation. ”
Ford leaned toward him, her arms crossed over his chest.
“You see, Stephen,” said the Director, “we both know that the reason of state must always take precedence over everything.”
“Of course, sir.”
“Listen to me carefully. Monica Squire is a pretty woman and charming, as well as a good agent, and although it has proven to be a coward, I do not deny that I should be sorry if it were to be sentenced to death or life in prison, but that’s not the point. If Monica Squire not appear in the courts, would put certain questions to which you answer truthfully. What has been done in these last days, “continued the director of the CIA, as if speaking to himself,” not the must, Stephen. Were taken drastic decisions, as needed. But Monica Squire must not speak, in any case! ”
“I do not understand, sir.” Said Stephen Ford.
“Now you understand.”
The director stood up and looked out the window. Then he turned to Ford.
“The woman … was not a terrorist. Belonged to the KGB, Stephen. ”
Ford blinked.
“And with her was a man, an icon. His code name is Matryoshka. We were convinced we have eliminated in Afghanistan. Unfortunately we were wrong. Now, how many times have we blamed the British for their wrong concept of individual freedom that leads them to neglect the security measures? Can you imagine their laughter to learn that a KGB man came undisturbed in the United States and killed all comfortable with two of our agents? And the world press? There should be a wedding. Imagine the criticism, editorials full of pleasure? No, Stephen, it would be a terrible blow to our image, and the consequences would be very serious. For this Squire must not speak. We could suppress it, of course, but I think it is easier and more convenient scagionarla, and close the whole thing here.”
Ford stared at him. “All right, sir. This Matryoshka? ”
“We’ll get him.”
CIA Director smiled grimly.
“Yarbes will take it.”
And Yarbes discovers that the elusive Julien Delpech is actually Matrioska. He came into contact with the SDECE the Agency for French counter. Hanault the chief, tells him that Julien Delpech is now on holiday at the Martinez in Cannes, but warns him.
Hanault was explicit. Delpech was a French citizen and, although he was suspected of having links with the KGB was behind a clean record and was a past worthy of respect: he had fought for General de Gaulle! In any case, whatever the reason for the request of Yarbes, the CIA was requested to not interfere. He taught him that information only as a gesture of courtesy.
Yarbes said that in all probability Delpech was dead. The man who now impersonating him was almost certainly a Soviet agent.
Hanault greeted these words with skepticism. Before hanging up, he repeated that he would not tolerate interference. “Damn cowboy,” cried when put the phone down on the fork.
Then Hanault convene two men from the notorious French Action Service. If Yarbes going to Cannes, they will have to watch it.
PART FOUR: CANNES
The attractive and statuesque Elke Shurer Matrioska informs that he was promoted to lieutenant general. Before his amazement, he says: “I was advised that this would be a surprise for her. A cadeau from Moscow. And there will be no new mission, Aleksandr Sergeivic. After a well-deserved break, take the place of Dmitriy. ”
In the past, Matrioska had avoided joining the senior management, but this time Putin would not accept waste.
As the two begin to flirt, Yarbes (who was accompanied in secret by Monica), goes to a gunsmith in Cannes. He needs a perfect weapon. His orders are clear: to kill the Soviet killer.
The Frenchman stared Yarbes. “Four days?” He shook his head vigorously. “Ce n’est pas possible!”
“It ‘s the limit.”, He said calmly American. “And I’m willing to pay double the market price.”
A light appeared eager for a moment in the eyes of the other. “Well, that changes things. Follow me.”
Led him to another room, a kind of laboratory. They were in an old house respectable, near a number of bowling alleys, frequented mostly by elderly people. The only window of the room overlooked a small garden, which in warmer months would certainly have been flourishing.
French Pastis poured two and handed a glass to Yarbes.
“The requirements?” He asked.
Yarbes was concise. “Extremely accurate. Hundred meters, at a minimum, within range. Laser sight. Type of hollow-point ammunition. It must be a light, very handy. And it’s not cumbersome, since I will use in the day and I’ll fix it somewhere. ”
“It ‘s always possible to assemble on site.” Said French. “She is practical?”
Yarbes nodded.
“Target fixed or moving?”
Yarbes thought for a few seconds, pondering the question. “Fixed”.
“Bien. Fifty percent as a down payment, the balance on delivery. ”
“Of course.” Said Yarbes.

Dopo quanto letto, mi sento atomicamente in forma.

NUNZIADAQUALE io ti ho letta e so quanto vali.

– la mia visione e la tua della letteratura sono piuttosto lontane;
– non sopporto i “romanzi a puntate”;
Sbaglio?
Spero di essermi spiegato. Un abbraccio, tuo
Cosimo
